Moonflower by E.D.C. Johnson hosted by N K Author Services

by E.D.C Johnson
Genre: Paranormal Fantasy

My Review

I totally and completely absolutely loved this book!!  This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am hoping that there is going to be a sequel.  This is one of those stories that sucks you in from the beginning and has you hanging on unitl the very end.  When I was finished with the book I just sat there for a moment relishing in the world that I had just been drawn into.

What can I say without saying too much?  Josie and her mom have an argument and they get in a car wreck.  But Josie wakes up somewhere else.  Oh this is just so good and I don’t want to give away any spoilers.  Please just go out and get this book.  If you like wolf shifter books you will love this one!

I highly recommend this book and would read it again in a heartb
eat.  It was full of emotion and always left me wondering what would happen next.  I give this book a full 5***** all the way around.

After Josephine Wood’s father dies of cancer, her mother up-roots the two of them and moves to the city. Josie hates her city life, but her teenage issues are of little consequence when they have a car accident and she wakes up in a strange land (reminiscent of Victorian Europe) alone. Lost, with her school backpack as the only connection to her world, Josie struggles to find her way home. She is found by Lucius Conrí, the son of a Marquess, who possesses royal blood and the gift to shift into a wolf’s form at will. Can the kind-hearted Lucius help her find her way while winning her love, or will she fall for Donovan Conrí his older, more serious brother and heir to the Conrí wealth?

A Change of Scenery
by Debra Parmley
Genre: Military Romance, Sci-fi rom/futuristic romance set in 2036

My Review

This was a great short story.  This is the first that I have read by this author and I would definitely read more by her.

The story starts off with Cyree wanting to take a vacation after going through a terrible divorce.  However, before she boards her flight they want her to take a shot of this new drug that is supposed to cure this illness going around.  Cyree doesn’t do well with new medications and is very concerned about this.  She steps into the lounge for a drink and ends up falling asleep.

Cyree is rescued by a Navy SEAL named Warren, who takes on the responsibility of getting her away from the airport and from the people following her.  Cyree has no choice but to trust this stranger, but will he get her to safety?
I am really starting to enjoy the short stories but these new authors I have b
een reading.  Just like some other ones that I have read, this one is packed full of heat, intensity and suspense.

I give this story 5***** and I would love to hear more of the story between these two.

Belly dancer Cyree Heat is headed from Memphis to the Caribbean for a vacation after a horrible divorce. A Change of Scenery is just what she needs to forget her troubles. At the Atlanta shuttle station she is handed a letter, which says she cannot board the Zuilund Super Shuttle until she receives an injection of Sendot, a new drug that prevents a new deadly gastrointestinal illness. She stops in a shuttle lounge on her way to check in and gets locked inside the wrecked deserted room with no one to hear her calling and no cell phone service.

Navy SEAL Warren West finds Cyree locked in the lounge. Soon they are on the run from the agency because she missed her injection and shuttle and is now on the list. Is a change of scenery what she needs or is it Warren?

The Maenad of Manhattan by Liz Meldon hosted by N K Author Services

The Maenad of Manhattan
by Liz Meldon
Genre: Paranormal Romance

My Review

This book is about Aphrodite and how she is a love columnist.  She is at a bar one night when she meets Loki; the only other god she has seen in ages.  Their chemistry is immediate and wow… once he gets a hold of her, watch out.

Even though this was a short read it was very enjoyable and had a lot of information.  These two gods are going to end up working together and I think it’s going to be fantastic.
I am looking forward to the next book in this series to see where these two end up.  I give this book 5***** all the way around.

The Maenad of Manhattan (Lovers and Liars #1)
The glory days of Ancient Greece are long gone, and the gods of the Old World are scattered across the globe. As their popularity dwindles, as their worshipers forget, their power fades. Luckily for Aphrodite, she’s a household name. After all, how could anyone ever forget the Greek goddess of Love?

Unfortunately, no one seems to know or care about her divinity. In a world of skeptics and technology-crazed mortals, loneliness and boredom have taken hold. Her life consists of romance advice columns, martini bars, and flings with empty-headed men—until she meets Loki.

She’s intrigued: it’s been decades—centuries even—since she laid eyes on another god, particularly one outside her pantheon. In their short—albeit incredibly sexy—time together, she realizes just how much she needs the companionship of one of her own. Loki, however, seems more interested in catching a murderous maenad than swapping stories about the old days.

Can she convince Loki to stay and make her life a little less lonely, or will he persuade her to join him on his quest for more worshipers? His questionable tactics make her uneasy, but how can she turn down the opportunity to live as she once did: freely, powerfully, and lustfully as Aphrodite of Olympus.

Liz is a Canadian author who grew up in the Middle East. She has a degree in Bioarchaeology from Western University, and when she isn't writing about her own snarky characters, she is ghostwriting romance novellas, loitering on social media, or taking care of animals.

As a freelance ghostwriter, she has written eleven romance novellas, eight of which have been published and are doing well. She loves writing realistic characters in fantastical settings.

Power Shift by Cassandra Carr hosted ny N K Author Services

My Review

Cissy isn’t too happy in her marriage to Len right now.  They are lacking love and some other things; among them being that Cissy isn’t being taken care of in the bedroom.  So Cissy goes online to see what to do to spice this marriage up and get back to what they once had.
This was a good read and I think that it captured my attention because it relates to real life.  I believe a lot of people have this issue.  The author wrote in a way the kept my attention the whole way through.

I give this book 5***** and as I have read other books by this author, she is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

A Beautiful Kind of Love by Ellie Wade hosted by N K Author Services

A Beautiful Kind of Love
by Ellie Wade
Genre: Contemporary Romance

My Review

I absolutely loved this book.  I read it in about 4 hours and I was just completely hooked from page one.  The author writes with such emotion that I was just totally drawn into the story.  I felt as if I was Lily and that was my Jax.

Their story is amazing.  It is beautiful, it is sad, it is hurt and pain, it is loving and caring.  All kind of emotions ran through me while reading.  I even cried, because they… Jax and Lily just had to be together no matter what.
This book is a definite read for those lovers of romance.  Be prepared to go on an emotional roller coaster that is amazingly beautiful.  I am so anxious for the next book to come out so I can see where they go from here.

I give this book 5***** all the way around and am so glad I got a chance to read it.  I highly recommend it.

Every choice has a consequence.

I believe in soul mates. Why? Because I have one and his name is Jax Porter.

I have known Jax my whole life and I have loved him with every breath I’ve ever taken. The fact that we were born a mere month apart to mothers that are best friends has made us inseparable since birth.

What we have is so rare, one would think our story would be written, our fate sealed. But, unfortunately that’s not how life works. Life offers us many choices that can turn destiny into chance.

I now find myself heading toward a destination that I could have never imagined and I have to figure out where to go from here.

Will the choices that have been made change our path forever or will fate find its way?

Ellie Wade resides in southwest Michigan with her husband, three young children, and two dogs. She has a Master’s degree in education from Eastern Michigan University and is a huge University of Michigan sports fan. She loves the beauty of her home state, especially the lakes and the gorgeous autumn weather. When she is not writing, you will find her reading, snuggled up with her kiddos, or spending time with family and friends. She loves traveling and exploring new places with her family.

The Gangster's Kiss by Ginger Ring hosted by N K Author Services

The Gangster's Kiss
Love is a Dangerous Thing Trilogy
by Ginger Ring
Genre: Historical Romance

My Review

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I can say for sure that it won’t be the last.  I am a history lover so I knew this book would be one that I had to read.

It was amazing.  I loved following the story of John and Grace.  It was a great to see them finally working together.  The author knows how to bring her readers in and keep us entertained.  If you like historical romance you will definitely enjoy this book.

I give this book 5***** all the way around and highly recommend it.

John O’Malley’s sister is missing. All the clues of her disappearance lead to Hayward County, Wisconsin and the crooks and questionable sheriff that reside there. Pretending to be one of them, John takes a job as bodyguard for the sheriff’s beautiful sister, Grace. It seems like the perfect way to investigate their crimes and corruption, but when someone threatens to kill Grace, the job proves harder than he thought. Is she an innocent witness to a crime, or just as guilty as everyone else?

Grace Sullivan just wanted a normal life: find a good man, get married and have a family. She has had enough of looking the other way while her brother hides behind his sheriff’s badge to conduct shady dealings. Hiring a gangster named John to watch her is the final straw. When a face from the past threatens her life, she is forced to put her life in John’s hands, but as time goes on, all she really wants is to be in the gangster’s arms.

Ginger Ring is an eclectic, Midwestern girl with a weakness for cheese, dark chocolate, and the Green Bay Packers.  She loves reading, playing with her cats, watching great movies, and has a quirky sense of humor. Publishing a book has been a lifelong dream of hers and she is excited to share her romantic stories with you. Her heroines are classy, sassy and in search of love and adventure. When Ginger isn’t tracking down old gangster haunts or stopping at historical landmarks, you can find her on the backwaters of the Mississippi River fishing with her husband.

Summer's Angel by Tiffany Ann hosted by N K Author Servies

Summer’s Angel
by Tiffany Ann
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Angels, Short story

My Review

This book was a really great book but I do feel that it could have been even better.  The story line is good, and I really enjoyed the characters; the uncle, Levi and Summer.  I really liked the chemistry between Levi and Summer.  It was great following them through their story of getting to know each other.

This was a real quick read and I personally feel it went too fast.  I kind of feel like the author rushed the book and the ending was all of a sudden like…Bam! And it was over.  The build up to the ending was great but then the ending itself was just like, “oh ok where is the rest”.

All in all I liked the book and I really hope that the author writes another book so we can find out more about these two characters, Levi and Summer.  I would love to see how things turn out for them.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Summer couldn’t believe it when she was offered a job with one of the leading translators of the written word, Walter Addison. Of course, being his great-niece could have had something to do with the offer. She arrives in Marblehead ready to help her great uncle and his partner in any way she can.

Leviah is a Fallen Angel having been cast out of Heaven for not choosing a side. He roamed the world for centuries until he met the first Addison. Since that time he has stayed with the family, helping them in whatever way he could. He never expected Walter to choose a vibrant, strong-willed female to take his place as caretaker of the Addison Estate, or assist in the world of translations.

When Summer meets Leviah sparks fly and the attraction is instant. Now if he can just figure out a way to show her his wings and horns that won’t send her running back to New Orleans. Forget returning to Heaven, he is ready to be Summer’s Angel...

Undergroud Serial by Cassandra Carr Books 1-3 Hosted by N K Author Services

Underground Serial
by Cassandra Carr
Genre: Black Ops/Military, Action, Suspense

My Review

First of all Off The Grid is a perfect title for this book.  The main character, Ethan needs to do just that; disappear.  He has just found out some terrible news and he ends up in a big mess.  He is offered a chance to join the Underground.  They will give him a new life and his old life will be gone forever.

This book was a quick read but packed full of information.  I really enjoyed the book and am real anxious to get to the next one.  I think the author did an outstanding job introducing us to this new series and it looks like it’s going to be amazing.

I give this book 5 ***** all the way around and highly recommend it.

Off the Grid, Underground 1- The seemingly impossible has happened. The unthinkable. Those I trusted most have betrayed me. I’m a hockey player, and gave control of my finances to my parents so I could concentrate on my game. Big mistake. They stole from me, bankrupted me, in fact. And then someone come looking for money I don’t have and I made a terrible mistake; one that will haunt me forever.
But now someone has found me and offered a new start. I would no longer be a hockey player, I wouldn’t even be an actual person, totally off the grid. I’d be a shadow, fighting crime for an organization that’s underground, literally. Do I want that life?
If I go back, what kind of life would I have? Probably one in prison orange. The choice to join Underground is painful, but necessary. As my hockey coach always said, though, pain is weakness leaving the body. I will not be powerless ever again.

My Review

I really like the way this book picked up exactly where the first one left off.  This was a real interesting read, in a really good way.

Ethan aka Slapshot starts his training for The Underground and we get to know the other characters as well.  My heart really went out to Ethan in this book.  He is struggling so bad with what happened to him and having to leave his old life.  The author did a great job pulling me into this story.  It is very detailed and it was nice to get to know some of the other characters stories of the reasons why they are part of The Underground.

I am anxious to start book 3, which I have right here waiting for me.  This is a wonderful series so far and I’m really glad I am reading it.
I give this book 5 ***** stars all the way around and highly recommend it.

Creating Slapshot:
I’ve left my old life behind and officially joined Underground. It appears no one knows where I am or even if I’m still alive. I don’t know how I feel about that. My friends thinking I’m dead leaves a hole in my heart, but I’ll drive myself crazy if I obsess about it. So rather than allowing myself to wallow in self-pity or anger about what’s happened, I’m throwing all my energy into training. You would think that whole “elite athlete” thing would make everything easier, but all these new techniques I need to master—hand-to-hand combat, weapons training, surveillance procedures—are kicking my ass.
For my whole life, I’ve only had one identity. Ethan, hockey player. Now that sense of self is gone forever, slowly being replaced by my new identity, Slapshot. Surreal doesn’t even begin to describe this transformation. But the more I find out about the world around me, the problems I ignored for the most part as I played a game for an obscene amount of money, the more I want to make a difference. This is not a game. It’s real life, and I have the chance to be a hero. It’s going to take everything I have—or have left, to do it.

My Review

This is the third book in the Underground series and it is my favorite!  I absolutely loved this book as I do the first two books as well.  We get to see a lot more of the characters and their traits.  We get to see Ethan in action and let me just say it is intense.

This series is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.  The books are shorter than most but I think it’s great.  The author packs a lot of info into these books.  She knows how to write a winner that’s for sure.  The ending of the book just makes me long for more.  I don’t know how long this series is going to be but I hope she continues it with several more.

I love how we find out more about Ethan’s personality as well as the other characters as each book unfolds. Ethan is a wonderful character, one I would love to know in real life!!  He’s a real true person with feelings and I love that about him.

I give this book 5***** all the way around and highly recommend it.  I look forward to more books in this series.

Blurb for Underground Serial- Follow this 10-part serial throughout 2015 featuring Ethan, aka Slapshot, a hockey player whose life is ruined, forcing him to disappear forever. Ethan joins Underground, a black ops organization and is trained as a deadly operative. There, he meets Ciana, a woman with a dark past of her own. As Ethan and his Underground colleagues embark on dangerous missions worldwide, he finds a new purpose in life. But will his former problems come back to haunt him?
